How Not To Run a Company

... or, “How to Run a Company Into the Ground”.

As many of you know, TextDrive recently moved their hosting to a new datacenter in California. As part of this, they lost their licensing for Urchin, because the licenses they had previously were owned by ThePlanet, the aforementioned previous hosting provider.

Despite many attempts by the staff of TextDrive to contact Urchin to GIVE THEM MONEY, TextDrive can’t get anyone to contact them SO THAT THEY CAN GIVE THEM MONEY.

As you may (or may not) be aware, Urchin was recently purchased by Google. I have no idea why, the product is ugly, cumbersome, and in general not very impressive. My suspicion though, is that the employees are all off spending the small fortune that Google likely gave them, and as a result are too busy to TAKE PEOPLE’S MONEY.

The end result is that a bunch of people hosted by TextDrive have decided that they’ve had enough, and are going to write a replacement for Urchin. This story may have a happy ending after all.

More details here and here.
